Hi, I’m Marie and I am an artist from Atlantic Canada specializing in portraits, still life, and plein air painting. I have always loved and appreciated art, but one day in the spring of 2021, it dawned on me that I could make art myself if I wanted to, even if it was bad. That is when I began painting and never looked back. I started with acrylics and eventually transitioned to oil paints, which I love for their vibrancy, texture, and blend-ability.

Representational art is interesting to me because it’s one of the few ways we can actually see the world through another’s eyes, and therefore a way for the artist to communicate directly how they see, both in a physical and metaphysical sense. Like many of us, I have a strong desire to be understood; however, I often struggle to express myself verbally. Art allows me to express myself in a way that felt impossible to me before. I am excited about the future of my art journey, and forever grateful to the teachers and mentors that have helped me along the way.
